Time for another installment in the monthly circular series. This time it's one of my personal favorites, Amatsumagatsuchi! An elder dragon that made its debut in MH: P3rd, I have fond memories of fighting this monster. It has a fantastic design and is a pretty challenging fight with the constant wings and raging storms it summons. With the recent confirmation that it's making a return in MHX, I think it's great that many newer hunters will get a chance to fight Amatsu as it's called in the English localization.

I tried to accurately capture many of Amatsu's design elements when I drew this circular. As you can see in the video, I originally tried to draw it with a more full body render but it didn't look great. The hind legs and tail just seemed too crowded. I ended up deleting the body and re-drawing it as more of an upper half to give more emphasis to the arms and body. This allows for more of the billowing frill sections to be noticeable, something Amatsu is known for.
